Social responsibility and participation in urban development
On December 27, 1990, the city of Görlitz founded a 100% subsidiary company WBG Görlitz mbH. The company was commissioned to responsibly meet the housing needs of the society, support the region’s settelment policy, implement commercial and infrastructure projects as well as, to a large extent, develop urban areas. Since then, we have been successfully operating on the housing market in Görlitz.
Demographic changes and increased requirements about housing have forced us to adapt to the real estate market a few years ago.
Thanks to expensive renovation of buildings in the historical part of the city and the demolition of over 2400 apartments in the suburbs of Görlitz, we now have, as the largest company with apartments to rent in Görlitz, a pool of over six thousand apartments in all areas of the city.
Our housing offer as well as services accompanying the rental of flats are to be even more tailored to target groups in the future. Your needs will be even more strongly taken into account. We will be particularly looking at the growing need for housing solutions for seniors and young families.
Along with the expansion of our range of activities, we have grown from a former municipal housing manager to a concern-sized real estate renting company and to an active partner in the development of the urban area of Görlitz.
We have combined this positive change with a new company name.
So that since 1 July 2014 the company has been operating under the name KommWohnen-Gruppe.
The diversity of our to-rent apartments and service offer should in the future appeal to a growing number of Tenants, even beyond the city – an signal them: KommWohnen in Görlitz … Come living in Görlitz!
